PostSubject: A Little Bit of Ft. Rucker and the Surrounding Area   Alabama - Fort Rucker Icon_minitimeThu Feb 18, 2010 2:46 am

Ok, here goes something lol. Ft. Rucker is predominately a Army Air Base. It is the base for all Army piloting school. There is not much to do on base there, they have a Burger King and movie theater, bowling, PX and Commisary, Shoppette and a seperate Class 6. All the typical facilities. There is on post housing and of course barracks and a hotel. The best thing Ft. Rucker has to offer (in my opinion) is the lake. They have a lake for fishing, skining, swiming, picknicking, and lodging. They have some hew and old cabins there and very reasonable rates. You are also about 1 1/2 hourse from the coast and Panama City Beach Florida, Destin Florida (great for outlet shopping), and then there are several more quiet beach areas. Dothan Alabama is the main city around Ft. Rucker and there are restaurants everywhere, so many places to shop, IMAX and regular theaters, skate rinks, places for the kids to go, night life. You name it, they have it on one scale or another. Also there is the yearly Bama Jam concert. This last for three days and there are big name artists there. Hope some of this helps and doesnt sound like rambling Very Happy
